Alvarado and Greenville Updates
As usual, the man himself tells it best. Directly from Kevin King:
Alvarado Texas. The first show of the year for the Lonestar series
blasted off this past weekend. A last minute change in the line up
left the show short one truck but the rest of us picked up the slack
an gave the fans a great show Friday night team SJ was on kill, we
started out takin the wheelie contest win an took down Tuff e Nuff in
round one. Mcgruff took down Clydsdale in the first race an made for a
Strait Jacket vs Mcgruff final race. SJ ran great in the finals an
beat Mcgruff to the finish line but a driver error on my part caused
us to hit a turning pole an had to settle for second place. Freestyle
would see the Tuff e Nuff truck scratch all the paint off the back of
the wheelie bars with 3 big slap wheelies across the floor. Strait
Jacket had alot of momentum hitting everything on the floor trying to
put the new truck thru its paces. But when the cheer off came down to
SJ an Mcgruff
The big air launches from the crime dog pulled out the
win. We got back to the home shop for a few days of work an make
some adjustments to the new truck. Plan on seeing just how big we can
go this weekend in Greenville South Carolina. Round number 2 for the
new truck an the monster jam shows. Its been tested an adjusted now
its time to pound on it hard an see what the new truck can do
In Greenville, we rocked the house in all three shows, taking down the Hall Bros. in racing and getting a couple of big wheelies and launches off the jackrabbit stack in freestyle. More pictures and information coming soon!
Direct from Kevin – San Antonio Report
SO!!! Week 1 for team Strait Jacket is in the books. We had a great time this weekend in San Antonio Texas for Monster Jam. 18 of the best trucks where on hand for two shows saturday an sunday. The first night out with the new truck was pretty we knew we where going to be battling a steering issue but we did what we could an made it work. As luck would have it we drew grave digger round 1, an with that being our first test run we fell short an was put out early. Freestyle would be a different story, coming out 4th we put the new truck thru its paces with some big hits an crossthreads an ending with the score to beat for the next few trucks. We stayed in second place for most of the freestyle but in the end we made a 6 place finish out of 18 was a very satisfied finish. Sunday was another hard day of running out early again in racing but freestyle we hit things alot harder an with about 15 seconds left to go we ripped a rear wheel of an had to call it a day. We loaded up an ready to head to Alvarado this coming weekend. Got some damage to repair but we will be all ready to go.

Updates from Texas and New Mexico
Straight from Kevin King himself:
Sept 21-22 Stephenville Texas. For lonestar promotions. It was the
first time LSP had been in stephenville at the 281 speedway, an 5
trucks came to show the fans what it was all about. Along with team
SJ, monkey’n around ,outtacontrol an new to the tour quick
motorsports two trucks ghost rider an el loco hombre. It was a good
weekend for some but for us the shock gremilns where out in full
force. The truck wasnt landing right but we managed to beat our way
thru the weekend untill an broken four link bar let go an caused the
truck to bend all four rear shock shafts an made us finish the night
alittle early. Me an Jennifer spent the whole next week in the
trailer rebuilding shocks an with alittle valving help from Dan
Patrick an a few new shock shafts we had SJ ready to go with an all
new shock set up.
Update– number 2
Oct 6-7. Torreon Mexico
Surprise!! The team went a little south this past weekend. Way
south!! All the way to Torreon Mexico for a last minute fill in. It
was our first trip ever to race in mexico an I am proud to say we left
a great impression on the mexican fans ( even left some body parts).
7 trucks headed down south to compete in slap wheelie ,racing , an
freestyle compititions. Saturday’s show was crazy there was lots of
fireworks an giant flame throwers as we intro’d trucks an all thru out
the show as trucks would hit opsticles fireworks would blast off into
the night sky. It was very impressive. Saturday also was our try outs
for the new shock set up an I was very happy with the out come, the
truck worked way better then ever but wasnt quite there yet. After a
second place finish in wheelies an a strong showing in racing we cut
loose in freestyle but it seemed that we were not the only thing to
cut loose an small bolt in the gas peddle broke off an caused the
peddle to bend over with out accelerating the truck over 3000 rpm so
needless to say it wasnt a very fast paist freestyle. Sunday the
truck was all fixed an ready to go an a slap wheelie all the way
across the stadium floor started the show off right. Freestyle was
indeed alot better sunday with full use of the motor an with the
sunday mourning adjustments to the shocks SJ was really working good
so I ran it as hard as i could to make up for the night before. In the
end the crowd was on their feet screaming an the front grill an
headlights were laying on the dirt but it was all worth it We are
back in the states now headed to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for
the next to last race in the lonestar monster nationals tour an only
one point out of the lead for the championship so its all or nothing
for the next two weeks.
Huge Update, Straight From the Man Himself
Kevin checked in and filled us in on all that’s been going on with the truck lately. Here is his unedited report:
Sept 1-Labor Day Weekend East Coast Off Road Park.
5 of the top monster trucks from all over the U.S. came to the home turf
of team Strait Jacket. With the shop only about 30 minutes from the
track team SJ was on kill an ready to do whatever it took to put on a
show for our hometown crowd. Three rounds of competition awaited the
fired up an slightly muddy crowd an the ECC-ORP. Wheelie comp was
first an with great efforts by all the drivers it came down to a cheer
off between Mac Plecker an the Ballistic truck with a tailgate ripping
wheelie. Racing showed the team trucks of Defender an Eliminator
battle it out in the first race with eliminator taking the win. Race
two had SJ an monkey’n around crossing the finish in the closest race
of the evening an after photo proof the win just went to SJ. Race 3
paired Ballistic an Outtacontrol (driven for only the second time by
clint watson) Ballistic took the win but a broken blower belt put the
outtacontrol out for the rest of the night. Semi final rounds had
Ballistic an Eliminator with ballistic the victor an SJ having to face
off against Monkey as fast loser but electrical issues caused monkey to
sit out an SJ took the bye run to the finals to face off against
Ballistic. When the dust settled ballistic was once again victorious
over SJ giving him the crown as racing winner. Freestyle saw get
performances from all the trucks an after the run ballistic made it
was clear that Mac was going for the clean sweep BUT…. Strait Jacket
was not leaving with out a fight. I pushed the truck to its limits an
hit everything the track had to offer an even hit a few things that
were not supposed to be. When the rear steering cylinder bracket
ripped off the housing an the temp gauge had made a few extra
revolutions more than it was supposed to SJ came to a stop an the
crowd made it clear that their hometown team had won freestyle. We
are all ready for the next stop of the Lonestar promotions tour in two
weeks in Stephenville Texas but we send a big “thank you” out to
everyone at the east coast off road park for the great hospitality an
support this past weekend Look out texas here we come!!!
